API VAT Calculation
The VAT amount shown in the 'Basket totals' is calculated by our API by reference, in the first instance, to the location of the Browser as determined by the IP Address presented.
If you are viewing the Demo Shop from the UK you will see the UK VAT rate has been used to calculate the displayed value (unless you are using a VPN or a VPN based web browser in which case you will see the VAT amount that is related to the country you are supplying to us via the IP Address it presents).
If you are not viewing this in the UK, the VAT rate displayed will be that for the country identified by the IP Address presented.
To ensure compliance, this location information is corrected, if required, when a buyer enters their country when completing the Checkout process.
